That would be the coolant temp sensor that sends the temp to your instrument panel temp guage. It is on my 86 anyway. Did you break off the spade connector?

One of your local parts stores should carry it. Broke the spade terminal off mine too when I pulled my heads off once. Got mine at a local Carquest for less than $10.00. Just take your old one with you to make sure they are giving you the right one. Its common that they instead will bring out the other temp sensor that is threaded in the front of the intake that sends the reading to the computer. Only the one in the head has a spade terminal.
