maf test

does anyone have a link to a how to page showing the testing of a maf for an '85?
i suspect mine is NFG, just want to varify

Best way to test it is to rap on it with a screwdriver handle when idling and see if the idle changes. If it does change, new MAF time....BTW I'm running my original 85 MAF still (knock wood).

Get the Helms manual (I know - it's been said a million times before). The troubleshooting and code diagnostics are in there. IF your problem is a start and die cold, try unplugging the MAF, if the problem goes away (it starts and Doesn't offer to die) then the MAF is bad. And I Just (couple of weeks ago now) replaced the (I think) original MAF in my '85 - with just over 200K on it.
