Default LT4 Stk Wheel Size

Info plz:

re what is the stock wheel size and back spacing for LT4? Was it 17"x9.5" all around with 56mm? And, can other sizes fit with no modifications/interference/rubbing such as 17"x11" or 50mm?

Thanks. [think I finally posted it in right place.]

Depends on what suspension you have.

All '96 coupes Excluding the Grand Sport...
Base Suspension including F45 equipped cars had 17x8.5 in the front and 17x9.5 in the rear
Z51 equipped coupes had 17x9.5 on all four corners

Grand Sport coupes all had 17x9.5 in the front and 17x11 in the rear.

11" on the front often (but not always) interfere at full steering lock but they will fit. Several people I know run 11" up front on road courses

11" on the rear will fit, but will stick out past the fender lip unless you have a lot of negative rear camber. They don't stick out a lot....25" to .50" depending upon the car.

You can run a 50mm offset 11" wide rim in the front with a 5/16 ( I think thats the size) spacer and it shouldn't rub.

Thank you very much, 96GS and Gary! I appreciate it. Right now, my car came with aftermarket bbs's which look to be 9.5" wide all around. I've got a line on "saw blades" that are off a '96 that look to be 9.5" front and 11" rear. I suppose they'll work for this car and, from what you've said, the sticking-out factor shouldn't be that much at all. I'd say it'll be barely noticeable.

Thanks again.

Well if they are sawblades then they cant be 9.5" and 11" wide. I suspect that they are probably the more common 8.5" and 9.5" wide combo.

The only sawblades that were 11" were off of '91 - '93 ZR1s. The offset is different on those versus the GS wheels. As a result, they'll stick out anywhere from 1.0" to 1.5" on each side. As before, if you run a lot of rear camber it'll tuck the tops in a bit.

Wheels can be widened, so if they're truly 11" and off a '96 I'd ask the seller for more info (who modified them, how long ago, etc) before taking the plunge.

True to form, I can't measure worth a darned!

I measured my own BBS wheels, edge of rim to edge of rim with the tire on it, and they came up almost 11". Then, I pulled off the center cap, and it clearly says, "9 1/2x17".

So, obviously, I'm measuring this other fellow's and my wheels improperly. Since his previous C4 from which these wheels came off of was, according to him, a C4-Z51, I suspect you are both right: his wheels are 9 1/2" wide, saw blade wheels.

Now, I know where the word "dummy" came from: dumb me.

Thanks for the help and putting up with the unknowledgeable.
