Default Need advice on '85 injectors

Gidday all;

I have 2 CAV injectors that are leaking from the body and here in Australia, it seems no one has CAV's except for deisels!

Has anyone had a problem like this and used another brand such as Bosch or Rochester with or without problems?

Do tell...

What is a CAV injector? If you are meaning Cold Air Valve on the '85, you only have one, and you can't use an aftermarket one instead as it is quite different than the normal injectors.

Gidday Downunder,
CAV injectors are manufactured by Lucas and have a tendency to leak at the upper body seals. Your best solution will be to purchase a set of Bosch 24lb/hr injectors. They can be found on eBay at quite low cost and are basically a direct replacement for your 85.
When you install them, you'll need a set of runner and plenum gaskets. It's also a good time to replace the fuel filter and don't forget a bit of amber fluid to make the job easier.

Hi.
I have an 85. I have learned that the injectors on the 85 are larger than for newer types. Think it was 24lbs/hr and they are from Bosch. Cannot now remember the partnumber.

Or you could just get some standard LT1 injectors and swap them in, they're a direct fit.

85 injectors are 24lb/hr, however they are not rated at the same PSI as the later 22lb injectors.

You can use the Ford SVO #24s, good quality and price. Should be available in Australia too. I would install a AFPR to tune the pressure as well.
