I am no tranny expert, but I believe that Mad Dog Louie (who is) told me that a vetter has a special tail housing that can be swapped to a different tranny. But the output shaft is shorter on a vette. So you would have to cut the output shaft to make it work.
Plus I think a vette tranny also has (one?) different valve over any other 700R4.
the 700r4 in the vette is different internaly, has different shift points
than the regular 700r4 and hes right the output shaft is shorter.
id find a good trans shop and tell them you want the newer 700r4 vette tranny (1987-199+) and ask to have a trans cooler installed.
you will be allot happier with the performance and it will last longer and run cooler, may cost alittle more but the peace of mind is worth it.
i have the same problem with my 1986 vette, in 2 weeks it will
be done, ill most likely add the trans cooler myself $49 or so
but it can add years to you tranny did to my other car
Many things are different on a vette trans. Most have been mentioned already. Some have not. Stick with a vette trans. You will be happier in the long run.
