Seeing as your almost at the bottom.....

When I put my carbed 406 in my S-10 I was able to retain the throttle cable and use the TV cable that was in the trans by using the brackets from another carbed vehicle. It required some modification of the bracket to work correctly. I know the aftermarket supplies these brackets, and edelbrock comes to mind, I am sure Holley has them too.

Try to get the adjustable unit if it all possible. I assume you're using the 700R4. TV cable geometry is another important aspect you don't want to over look. You'll have to do some googling on that one though.

Cable length for the throttle isn't an issue if you can get it routed to the carb without binding it up. TV cable length can be an issue as the vette cable is longer (in my case about 6"). This one cable you don't want to mess around with and want to get it as perfect as possible. If you can get to the bone yard try getting a TV cable off of an 80's carbed chevy pickup with the 700 (mine was from an 85), you could get a throttle cable too but I am not sure if it will work with the vette gas pedal. The brackets for the cables would be a toss up. I have no idea what vehicle my bracket came off of but it required a lot of cutting and bending to get it right. I no longer have my truck but still have the engine. If the bracket is on there I'll post some pics for you when I get home later this evening.

I bought the cable bracket from JEGS for the Edelbrock carb and 700r4. I bought the linkage corrector from Edelbrock and I used the Vette cables. I did modify the bracket to line up correctly and the transmission shop changed my TV cable dimensions and added a small damper spring on the end. It took several trips back to the transmission shop but it seems to be right now. Good luck.
