Hey I just wanted to say hello and I'm new to the board. I recently purchased my first Vette, and sold my Porsche to get it. I picked up a Torch Red 96 w/ an A4. I love the car and it's immaculate, the person I purchased from was a 63 year old woman who was the original owner, and the car looks as good as a 10 year old car can possibly look. I have a basic plan of upgrades to make, I will get a cold air intake, headers and a cat-back system, 3.73 rear gears (it currently has the 3.07's) and have the local speed shop tune the computer on the chasis dyno when it's all said and done. I appreciate all the info i've read so far and I hope to be able to contribute in the future.
Sounds like you've got a good plan there. The headers and exhaust are definately key, and will give you a good amount of power. The CAI isn't necessary. Just get yourself a cut lid and K&N filter, and you'll be set. : )

CAI costs way more than it's worth for a typical mildly modded car.
Welcome to the Forum and congrats on the vette.
You'll find out everything you want to know about the car here.
Welcome,
Start with some basic maintenance. Change all the fluids.
Clean the area between the condenser and the radiator to keep oeprating temperatures as low as possible at this time of year.
the exhaust on the 96 is flows better than most aftermarket....don't need to change unless you want want better sounding exhaust
3.07s are decent gears...just get a higher stall torque converter 2800 0r 3000 stall and tranny cooler......1.6 Roller Rockers and long tude headers....you don't need a reprogram tune for these mods the 96 has
a good stock program!!! and your vette should run mid to low 13's if this is not fast enough....then do a dana 44 conversion with 3.45s
first...then begin to do other mods over time...but for now just drive the car and get to know her! peace!!!
Welcome! You will love this forum. There is literally thousands of years of experience here.
AND Don't wash under the HOOD! Clean under hood by hand specialy around the opti area. Opti gets wet opti dies. Good luck with yer new ride. When Corvettes dream at night they all dream they are red.
Welcome aboard...I just recently bought an LT4 with 30K miles on it. Exceptionally Clean. It's bone stock except for the K & N Air Filter. The guys are right..Runs like hell pretty much stock.

if you keep an eye on MY posts - you will find a lot of the maintenance things to do - i am looking for information on getting the radiator/condensor area cleaned as i type this!
changed plugs (and some of the wires - need to remove the belt and idler pulley to change the other 4 - and have more important things to work on now - like the above mentioned cooling issues)
i have a 92, so our cars are very similar (i would think) so follow me and you'll have your preventive maintenance done in no time!
