Default motor dies while driving, hard starts sometimes

While driving down the highway too work the car motor just died, no sputtering or anything just cut off. The tach dropped too zero but the motor was still turning, and the service asr light came on. After about 5 or six seconds it just fired back up and kept on going, it did this twice and later on it would start and then die when you try to start driving, it would sputter a little when you floored it after that but seems to be running fine now. Its a standard with a vortech and a crane ignition system. any ideas

thanks.

Default When is the last time the fuel filter was replaced?

That would be my first check as it seems to not be getting fuel. One of my vettes had much the same problem as yours and in my case it was the fuel filter.....A cheap fix if thats the problem. If electrical, should be codes there that Autozone could pull up. I'm just looking at the easy fix, but as I'm sure you know, there is much more to pick from...

On my 92 and 88 the fuel filter was $14.99 in book...Replace ment was $4.00 at Advanced auto.....Works fine. I do one a year, 15 minute job on the 92.

I had the same problem (the ASR light in particular) with my 96 LT1 after I replaced the Opti with a reman and the new WP started leaking on it. I put in a Dynaspark and the problem is history.
