I used to have them many years ago.. Made the car (stock back then) sound AWESOME when on the throttle.. Only problem was that they rusted out within 1/2 a year.. And I mean TOTALLY rusted out... Flaked and bubbled up badly..

That sucks... How many miles was that? Did you keep your vette outside?
These are KBD exhaust. Ecklers has the same thing except the outlets are round chrome and can be had in 2 1/2" and 3". According to the Ecklers catalog they have a 3 yr limited warranty. I put the 3" KBDs from Eckler on my '87 back in Feb. They have a deep tone, and get a little louder, in time, but doesn't affect conversation in the cabin. The red inside the outlet will darken but it doesn't bother me. So far I am pleased with them. Use the Search function on "Exhaust" or "Mufflers". There have been several threads on them.

Mike, if you're interested in what seems to be KBD catback (photo above certainly looks like them, minus the tips), may I humbly suggest that you mess with nothing but the stainless steel version.....I used to have the KBD's (stainless and I definitely vouch for them......great sound (classic 60's muscle, that there be a fact), and the stainless will last......I think you would be pleased
I have these LT-1-style Targa Mufflers and from the exploded pic, they look pretty much the same. I got mine for free from a friend about 2 years ago and they were about 3 years old at that time. No indicationof rusting but neither his car or mine see a lot of rain.
The price of the ZR-1 setup is about $30 cheaper, but for less that $100 you could have a local muffler shop simply remove the factory mufflers and install open pipe and add a nice set of tips. The sound will be a bit louder under WOT, but at cruise they will be fairly quiet.
My vette came with those installed - nice look & sound - but about 6 months later the rear pipe had rotted all the way through and was dragging on the ground.
