Folks, I have a 90 convertible and I am trying to install a new reverse switch on my 6 speed transmission. I had no problem getting the old one out, but have been striking out getting the new switch threaded back into the transmission. I have tried to search the forums, I keep getting a error message. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks. Joe
I have changed a few of these and like bogus said there is really no trick, it's just like installing a bolt. You may be off a bit in your angle. Only tip I can offer is try turning it counter-clockwise a bit first until you feel it click so to speak and then resume clockwise turning. Generally works for me when I am trying to tighten something by hand in a small tight spot.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to give it another try today. The slave cylinder and the hydraulic line have made it a difficult spot to reach. Joe
I just did mine. The trick for me was to loosen the slave cylinder. I loosened both nuts on the cylinder and removed the one that let me tilt the cylinder out of the way. With the extra room, getting the switch in was much easier.

My back-up lights are not coming on so I'm assuming the switch is bad(the bulbs are OK). How do you get to the switch? Can it be worked on by removing the console or from underneath? Ed
