Has anyone changed the accellerator/throttle/gas pedal cable on an L98 car? I'm looking to do this project on my '85 and I want to know what I'm getting myself into (I have the haynes and helms manuals, which should help).
I just did this on my 96 and other than the ASR stuff (which I was getting rid of) I would think it would be about the same.
If you are just chucking the old cable just cut it completely at the firewall and then that will make the job a little easier. I think it might be easier too if after cutting the cable you just remove the accelerator pedal - this will make it a LOT easier to get to the hole in the top where the cable pushes in. I didn't have the dexterity to do it.
Then slip the cable back through the firewall and let it slide as far as it will go - this will give you plenty of slack which you can now use to connect to the accel. pedal - put the pedal back on - then just take the other end of the accel. cable and connect to throttle linkage.
That's how I did it and it wasn't bad. Worst part is the old cable is NOT easy to cut.
