differential plug size 3/8...
Just did a differnetial fluid change on my 1992 6-speed. I had read several places that the a 17 mm allen wrench was needed to fit the drain/fill plug. I finally found one at tool store (I knew I didn't have anything that big at home). Well the 17 mm did not fit my car, it was way too big.
I used a 3/8 allen wrench, fit perfectly.
I don't know if mine was an odd size but I did read a post up here that said he used a 3/8 also. I bought amsoil synthetic (two quarts) and two bottles (4 oz each) of their slip lock additive. I also bought a small hand pump for 11.00. Jacked up the car, sucked out all the old fluid (I measured about 1.3 quarts. Pumped in all my fluids and will drive it later today to see if it fixed the problem I was having.
So...keep a 3/8 allen handy, if yours is like mine..

I was unable to fit a 3/8" allen into the plug on a D36. I mean, it sorta fit, but man it was tight. And I cleaned it out... even if I didn't the metal was tight, not debris.
