Hi guys, i have a 91 Corvette and i was wondering, where on the chassis can you lube it? Also, i read the steering linkage or shaft should be lubed, how does one do that? Secondly, what is the hose called thats directly below the throttle body? it looks like it runs into the intake manifold, its a shorter hose, but its directly below the throttle body. I wanted to change this hose, it looks abit old, i dont want it blowing out on me. Sorry for not being more technical with my questions, im not all that mechanically gifted. Thanks
Other than the two fittings on each front front ball joint I would have to look the car over to find all the grease fittings.
Do you mean the large heater hose sized tube going into the TB? If so we often do the TB coolant bypass mod, eliminating that hose. There should be a C4 tech tip on this.
Grease fittings I am aware of are 4 ball joint fittings, 2 front outer tie rod ends, 2 outer rear tie rod ends. That said, some of the tie rod ends may not have zerks, but the one's on my 86 did. I found out last week that they are putting them back on some stuff. My 05 Sierra has zerks on all balljoints and tie rod ends..

I took a hands-on C4 class last month. The instructor said that the upper ball joints rarely wear out but the lower ones do bacause of the weight they must carry. A way to see if the lower ball joints are good is to see if your grease gun will snap onto the zerk fitting. If the gun will not fit on then it means the joint has worn causing the fitting to recess too far in. He said not to make more than 4 pump strokes as there is danger of blowing out the boot.
I like the idea of the TB coolant bypass as it would be technically useless in FL because of the hot summers and the mild winters. No matter what, the intake would always be warm.
About lubing the chassis, I think it is generally putting grease where ever the Helms manual tells me to.
On my '88 there are six zerks, all in the front by the rotor. The hose on the TB, sounds like the one inch coolant hoses. There should be two, yes? Some auto places have shaped hose to fit there or you could order the GM part.
My '94 has 6 zerks in the front end and 4 more in the rear drive axles where I had the Ujoints replaced. I ran sealed ujoints in the drive shaft because they are hard to reach.
