I own a 1985 with 700R4 transmission, so, I believe that my differential is a Dana model 36. I cannot find the fluid capacity, either in the owners' manual, or in the Shop Manual. Can anybody here help me out with this. Thanks in advance.
I am not using the synthetic 75W-90 oil, but the mineral based 80W-90 product. In Valvoline's case, the synthetic product already has the friction modifyer added, therefore, no additional "posi additive" would be required. Indeed, any additional friction modifyer would seriously impair the clutch pack's ability to distribute torque evenly between both rear wheels.
I need to know the difference between the Dana 36 and the Dana 44 in order to eliminate the need for me to actually measure them.
I have a chiltons manual and it shows 4 pts. I cant find a capacity in the factory manual. IF it has the orig. diff. in it, it would be a dana 36. The 44 was only used in 85-96 manual transmissions.
just changed mine in my 94 auto which is a 36 just like 85,2 bottles of diff additive, and 1 and 1/4 quart of mobil 75w90.I'm a little leery of fluids that say "dont add additive"
