However, often, even in the day, after my '96 sits for a while, when I key on the ignition, my windshield fogs up badly. Even when it's warm out... So I hit the defrost (sometimes twice) and it goes away.
Does anyone have this, or what are you opinions?

If you have been running with your AC on, it could be just some condensation build up in the vents. That is unless it smells like antifreeze. Then, well, you don't want to think about that just now.

If humidity is high, will do also. Check inside windshield, right above defroster, to see if it has a greasy feel. Hope not, but if it does it could very well be heater core.
Does it smell like anti-freeze in your car? Is the carpet wet underneath the heater core? Does your car run hotter than usual? If so these are signs of a faulty heater core.
I replaced my heater core on my 95 Z28. Not a hard job. But I do not know the difference in the Corvette procedure.
Mine does it when I shut the system off it is from the ac condensing although I have never had to turn on the defroster as it only does a small patch just above the windshield vent.
NOT a delightful job, though necessary due to the leak, carpet problems etc. A dirty job, alot of parts, if you have a digital camera take pics while you're doing it etc. Took me three days, but I took "frustration" breaks to prevent another kind of boiling point!
my car does that when I turn on the AC. When you turn on the AC the air is directed at the windshield to blow out all the hot air in the system. Then the main vents open. I don't have a heater core issue. no LEAKS, no drop in coolant level.
