Hey everyone, I was taking a look at my brother's '88 and saw that he had two extra hood seals on his car that my '96 doesn't have. They are where the hood latches are, in between the latch itself and the windshield. They're just foam and seal the top and then run down the side. On my car the latches fill up with water everytime it rains, so it looks like those seals stop that from happening. Does anyone know why GM stopped putting those seals on? So the hot air can vent out? Does anyone see any issues to putting those seals on, or know of a way to keep water from collecting in the latches? Thanks!
I noticed those same seals missing when I bought my "91". My old "89" had the seals and my "91" didn't.
I removed the foam seals from my "89" before the Insurance company took it (Vette was totaled) and installed them on my "91" just because it covers the edge of the metal and looks more finished.
I haven't noticed any problems with water or heat with or without the seals installed.
