Default Engine break-in time?

How much time or miles should I wait until I start pushing the rpms above 4K up to 6K on a fresh rebuilt LT1? I haven't taken it above 4K yet. All fluid levels are good and all pressures & temps. are good.

Thanks,
JTHVETTE

don't worry, dude... most breaking in occurs in the first 20 to 40 miles.

Run the bitch. Just make sure it's fully warmed.

what BOGUS said maybe the first 10-20 miles run it too 4000k several times and put load on it! don't idle the thing very much either, keep the rpms moving and put it in neutral on stop lights and give it a little throttle.

after you make sure its holding up and not having any problems to worry about take it out and romp on it.

i stomped past 4k rpms on mine once i reached 500 miles. once the 500 mi. goal was reached, drive it hard (like normal ). the other school of thought is just as the others said - start nailing it once you hit about 40-50 miles.

The Haynes manual will tell you to wait until 500 miles, then "dont baby it" after that. Then once you hit 2,000 mi., they considered it fully broken in.
