If the 86 sits for more than 3 days it leaves a small puddle of tranny fluid on the garage floor. I normally drive it everyday and it doesn't leak a drop. The tranny was rebuilt 30k miles ago and this leak just started. Why would it leak (about a pint) only if it is not driven for 3 days or more?
Sometimes, the fluid in the torque convertor will drain out past the front seal when the car sits. Also, when rebuilding a trans most guys will not change the seal that the shifter shaft passes through. This could also be the problem. The shifter seal drove my buddy crazy for years. He put a pan under it because it slopped up the garage a bit.

A pint is a "small amount"? The "Add" mark on your dipstick is at a pint. That sounds like a pretty major leak, to me.

Thanks! The torque converter draining sounds like it might be my problem.
Shift seal! Had the same problem on mine. Some yahoo who installed it years ago didn't do it right and it leaks down from the shift seal and around the tranny pan to where it looks like its coming from the rear main seal or your oil pan in the back toward the tranny. Replaced it and some other goodies this past spring and no more leaks!
You have too determine where the leak is coming from then we might be able to better diagnose it for you. My quess is it is overfilled. Have you checked the level on level ground at normal operating temp?
