SYMPTOM:determine to find out why my fan relay was over heating and burning out.
PROBLEM:::main fan motor was dragging (lack of lube over the years), brushes contaminated with dirt. intermittent failure( when it is suppose to be running)
SOLUTION: dissassembled, checked the comutater to ground (check for circuit to ground, shorts). remachined/resurfaced, clean brush holders, installed new front bearing, cleaned and re lube rear bearing, reassembled. current draw is now less 8 amps, where before was in excess of 15 amps. total time for repair was about 1 1/2 hours...relay/fan are now cooler when operating.
