Today I started the install of a Corsa exhaust cat back system and I'm concerned about the clearance between the system and the rear end housing. Still have the car up on jack stands and all sections of the system are in place but I haven't finished tightening the bolts.
Now, I can hit the back of the center section and the pipes hit the rear end. There is probably only 3/16 inch clearance.

My PE system is close there too. These things often just need tweaked until everything fits. Run it, recheck and adjust as needed. Takes a little creative engineering sometimes.
It's even more interesting when you go with the 3" systems. One thing that is nice about the C4 exhaust system is the fact that it is firmly secured to the body and the differential doesn't move. I, too, suggest shimming the pipes away from the diff and then tighten all the bolts. Drive it for a while and recheck. The clamps Corsa gives you are good, but they will slip a little after running a while.

.......nods head in agreement......the clamps that hold the muffler assembly to the last piece of exhaust pipe came loose on mine while driving on the highway - "Hmmm wonder what kind of monster truck just pulled up behind me?" - and the muffler dropped away. Luckily the hanger at the very back of the muffler held the thing in place long enough for me to get the car stopped on the shoulder of the road. Had to press it all back together in the dark....just another of those Vette challenges I guess. Since then I've re-tightened all the clamps and found a couple that were loose (the disconnect happened approx. a year after initial installation.) Check those clamps!!

If you are happy with your exhaust, whether Corsa or B&B, weld it together. It makes the system stronger and never loosens. The only places that aren't welded on mine are the connections to the cats. (OEM style) You want to hear something sick? I have 3 complete exhaust systems, one stock, one for racing and one for show. They are all welded and swapping systems is easy.
