Default Bought my drysump pump

It's an autoverdi.
The scavenge sections are mini roots blowers, they claim it draws so much vacuum you need a -12 vent on the dry sump tank and must have it out of the wind stream to prevent a mess. They also claim the internal oil seperator is efficient enough that the return should be plumbed below the oil level in the tank. We'll see.
Im runnin out of room on the motorplate!

Still looking for a tank that will fit into the storage well. Anyone got one they want to part with?

So what's the point of doing a dry sump? It seems to be just an externaly driven oil pump or is there something else? Is this just for the turbo, or for the engine too?

Where are you mounting it?

If its for the engine as well, it could be mounted down low easier with the smaller pan.

The tank could be mounted where the battery is.

10-16inches of crankcase vacuum, far better ring seal, far better oil control, relocated yet another blob of weight over the rear axle. (in exchange for putting the cooling system up front again) Also it one stage will indeed be scavenging the turbo out. Basically, I want no leaks, and no oil smoke period. especially with all the alky fun coming.

just a thought. do you really want a vac. in the turbo oil drain tube? Maybe I'm a liitle too uneducated to know, but then again maybe the bearing clearance fo rteh turbo will be enough to prevent dry bearings?

The increase in pressure delta caused by vacuum might give me some volume issues (as in too much), not dry bearings. Think of it like this, 30in of mercury, it's the same as me increasing the oil pressure 14.7psi on the top side. same pressure delta across the turbo bearing section. The one concern I have given thought to is exhaust contamination in the oil due to the seals leaking backwards. If it becomes an Issue I have 2 choices, Vacuum break in the turbo line (which the added air might help in evacuating the oil) or machine the turbo's center section for a better seal.

when I used to run/rebuild screw machines for a living, we used these double row sealed ball bearings(oil less). They were built for thrust and radial loading. SHIITloads of it, were talking about a machine that does end turning and side drilling at the same time. Some ops included broaching. They would last a few thousand hours depending on the job it was running.
I wish I could remember who we purchased our bearings thru, (Internation screwmachine services in conneticut, but they didn't manufacture them) I'd like to find out if they make a set with a 1/2 id that can flirt with 100k rpm. even if they were odd sized it would be no big deal, my old man would cut me a new center section on the CNC.
Speaking of which Does anyone know what the quill dia is on the GT60 wheel?http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...1_731377_1.htm
I want to put this wheel/cover on my turbine/chra. I think I'll pay DWdiesel a visit today and see what they want to rape me for the parts. backing plate will have to be custom.
