weird wheel rubbing noise

weird wheel rubbing noise
Greetings,
I have an 86 and for a while it has a weird rubbing noise coming from the front passenger wheel, it does it some just driving along and worse when u step on the brakes,
I pulled the wheel and caliper to check the brake pads and they were ok, I put things back together and the sound stopped for a few hours.
the sound is sort of like when brake pads are wearing out it's a rythmic sound like one place on the rotor is doing it yet the rotor "looks" ok,
Its a rubbing type sound I never really have heard before,
to add to it the last few times out the steering wheel is starting to shimmy which may or may not be related.
So what should I look at to fix this?
