Default total tune up

OK, I got my 96 coupe 2 weeks ago with 68000 miles. I'm going to do a total tune up on the car. I'm scheduled to bring it in to my local Corvette Speed Shop to get Oil, Tranny fluid and filter, coolant drain and flush and fuel injector cleaning done. The fluids and filters are all mobile 1. In addition I'm going to change the plugs, wires, cap and rotor.

The question I have is what wire set would you recommend that will fit the factory looms but offer the greatest perfromance. I plan on using the ACDelco Rapidfire plugs, and using GM cap and rotor. My car is Torch red so I think a nice set of red wires would help set of the engine bay. Also is there anything that you guys would do that I'm missing.

Thanks Greg

TPIS makes a nice performance wire set for L98s and maybe LT1s too. The wires fit stock looms, look stock but have much lower resistance.

You might also consider having the brake fluid flushed too as the fluid is hydroscopic and picks up water and contaminants over time and usage.

What is the suggested service interval on the posi rear?? It might be time for a refill and posi additive boost.

How are the tires wearing?? Is it time for another 4-wheel alignment?

A 4 wheel alignment was done just before I purchased the car, and when tested on the road it tracks very straight. I will have the gear oil changed when I have the 3.45 gears installed in a couple of months. TPIS sounds like a good lead on wires. Do you know if GM Performance Parts offers a wire set?

GM sells a nice set of red LT4 spark plug wires. Only downside, they are about twice the price of a set of red Taylor Spiro Pro wires.

Get the Taylors!!!

It's a pretty big job to tear the car down for a cap and rotor. With 68,000 miles, you might as well replace the entire opti. You can pick up a 95/96 opti for ~$220.

Check the water pump while it's off. If the weep hole is leaking, replace it also. I would change it, whether leaking or not.
