Default Wierd Dash problem

Ive owned the vette for about a month now and ive noticed the digital dashboard dims out and comes back to life. These are the things ive noticed latley, The dash seems to dim only at night. When the dashboard dims, the voltage light is always below 11.6 volts and the warning light comes on. When I step on it the voltage builds and once it its above 11.7 volts the dash goes dim. This doesnt make sense to me, wouldnt it be theother way around? dash dims when the voltage is low? The car has aftermaket ignition and the previous owner said the low voltage light would come on if he had the AC on.. but this doesnt seem to make a difference if the AC is on or off... or the headlights for that matter. Hopefully you guys can help me out ~Jason

could be your alt is not putting out what it should.with the engine running the volts should read about 13.8-14.3...could also have a ground problem.

and you might want to check the connection to the alternator.

Time for a new alternator. Check alt and battery connections first though.
