Have a 92 coupe with 2.59 axle ratio. Are all the same?. Just what advantage or disadvanage is such a ratio?. Also has FE1 soft ride suspension, boy am I glad its got that.

advantage-gas mileage
disadvantage-not sufficient for a car that makes its power at high rpms

The 6 speed cars have 3:33's.

Automatics have the 2:59's. Sounds like you have an auto car.
No real major disadvantage in the grand scheme of things. It provides great highway gas mileage.
More gear will launch you harder tho.

I think the 3.33s were on the early cars. Most of the D44s (Manual transmission rear) I have seen were factory filled with 3.45s. A 3.07 was offered as a performance ratio for the automatics. The milage hit for going from 2.59s to a 3.45 is more than offset by the smiles per mile you get from the increase grunt off of the line.

3.33 was only on the early ZF's, they changed the gear ratios several times when they first introduced it.

Does the ZF "Black tag" correlate at all to 3.33? In my '92 MN6, I actually do not know what I have, so I may need to decode the option label.
