I read an article about this once and it suggested the engine be washed when it is overnight cold. The reason being is when the parts are hot. ie connectors etc. when hit with cold water will tend to suck the water into them. Then about 2 months latter when corosion starts showing its ugly head you may start having problems. A lot of people on here have posted using simple green, a bucket of water and hand cleaning the motor. That being said, I have used the spray engine cleaners and a water hose at my house and tried to keep it away from the distributer and Ive never had any problems. It you are going to go to a carwash take a can of wd40 or some moisture displacement spray and a screwdriver to be able to open the distributer cap. If it wont start check there first.
