Default Problem removing shade latch when replacing antenna

I'm in the process of replacing the antenna on my 93 coupe, and am trying to get the shade out of the way so I can get the antenna harness out the back of the car. In the instructions (Chiltons), it says to open the shade latch and the shade will come out.

I'm being a bit dense (or too gentle) and can't seem to get the darn shade out.

I'm sure it's something simple. Please advise.

Once you remove the interior trim on the sides and back you'll see where the shade ends are located. They sit in some rectangular holes of some body sheetmetal brackets. Insert a flat screwdriver or a gasket scraper between the metal bracket and the end of the shade. I don't think it matters which end of the shade you work on. Pry or push the end of the shade toward the center of the car and pull the shade toward the front of the car at the same time, it should come right out. The shade must be in the rolled up or stowed position, not pulled out.

I agree with everything MrRenoman said, except...

where he says "body sheetmetal" it's SMC/fiberglass/plastic... and when he says "metal bracket" it's more plastic. So be gentle.

Thanks for the update...it's been awhile. Definitely be careful on the SMC.
