The damn starter doesn't clear the pan. The two studs on the side hit. I might need a summit starter. I almost gave her the "ball peen" clearence job, but my old man was there when the issue was discovered, and well frankly- he would never let me live it down. especially after he offered to pick one up for me.
Wait till you see my dry sump tank. It will look very familiar(ran out of money).lol.
Im putting my stock exhaust back on, cats as well. Since Im using a motor plate, I have to reroute all the accessories. Some will be turned around and driven with the back side of a double (early 93) belt. the A/c being one of them. Their centralization will allow me to run two 3" pipes (out of single 5") around the motor and into the factory cats in the factory positions. The new cooling system I have devised Will give you guys something to consider, especially you big blower guys. All auto zone /home depot parts, some soldering skills, some aluminum sheetmetal (or you could use luan, yes wood, covered in polyester resin) Just let me try it out on my own car and make sure it works first
The rear radiator had to go to make way for another fuel tank. I want it to have a diffuser built into it. It think it looks so bitchin' that way. I need some more posterboard and cardboard to figure out what that will look like/ fuel capacity. but that's after the fact. It doesn't need alky yet. I put a 5lb spring (the smallest that comes with the new gen) and Im imposing a 4000 rpm redline for the duration of break in. that should keep the 24lb gasoline injectors (all I got at the moment)from doing any damage.
Stock exhaust is back on, the cats are gonna need some reworking to fit around the dry sump system. I had to section the corner braces (the bolt on ones) at the cradle to clear the pan. I need to get my headers back from Swain tech before I can build any motor mounts/new turbo mounts, and I need my oil pump before I can make any progress on the motorplate/accesory drive/oil lines. Kinds stuck at the moment. Hopefully my pump shows up today.
The drive Mandrel dad made clears the rack by about 1/4 in. Changing the drysump belt should be fun. But at least it's gonna work. the mandrel fits in the Ati balancer perfectly,no runout and is keyed to the balancer. Do you cog drive blower guys use 25mm wide goodyear timing belts?

I have all of my interior in, got my headers back from swaintech. Tomorrow I will install them, and build the mounts for the plates.
Then Im Stuck again.
The guy who I bought the drysump pump from emailed me tonight to tell me that (obviously he lied) he did not infact send out the pump Last thursday like he told me. This is after I next dayed his money via postal money order and told him I needed this pump immediatly.
He needs my adress again, so whenever he "feels" like sending it out I got to wait 5-7 days Ups ground from lubbock texas. Then I can lay out the pump and figure out what fittings/hose I need, then 3 days of jegs waiting. Im so pissed, I can't see straight. Im never gonna get to drive my car this summer.
The Guy's name is Brian. I normally wouldn't be irked, I have plenty of patience most of the time. But when you next day Priority mail the $$$ and give instructions that it's needed ASAP, Urgency is obviosly the order of the day. Then when I ask if you recieved the $$ O.K. and you tell me yes it's been shipped, I'll get you the tracking ## I should be able to take you at face value. Then email me 10 days later to say you need my adress again? Sounds a little fishy to me. Good thing I used a postal money order/Priority mail.
Im on my way to sunset now I will get on to him. Those guys are mad busy Tracy Dennis is the owner and he supplies alot of racer with engines. he has an article in the new vette mag the seven second joker vette that his motor he knows is **** and is a supernice guy. brian is his parts guy anyway I will check status for ya give me a minute.
Thanks, friend I appreciate it. Don't give the guy to hard a time, if it was indeed some kind of mishap, especially if you say that he is indeed a supernice guy. Im not really mad at him, I guess Im just disappointed to know It will be even longer to get the motor finished up, and my chances of making the carslisle show this year are waining to nothing. I guess Im a big baby but I have been waiting and working really hard for a long time now. Im going , all my buddies are out enjoying their vette's and the bestI can do is sit in the lovely smell of leather, yank on the T-handle thru Idle gears and make engine noises.
Anywho, here are some pics of the finished interior/rollbar
Rick, looking at your roll bar.. I have the same concerns that I do for mine... If you ever get hit from behind you are gonna get a cracked skull...I need to put my hard padding on..but I'm not sure how much difference it will make.
Oh, and I use a 37mm Goodyear polychain belt.. no problems whatsoever..
He got it in the mail yesterday and he again appoligized for the wait. His story was indeed true he had a complete motor a he tore it down and shipped peices of it everywhere. Well he thought he sent yours out it that same batch but he was mistaken he found your part laying there and realized he had forgoten to ship it and threw away your address that is why he asked for it agiain not to make excuses for him but hes a standup guy just sometimes he has way to much stuff going on to keep up with it all.

thanks again friend, he sent it 2nd day air to make up for it.
I am impressed, he really is a good man and took responsibility. He definitly will be recieving positive feed back from me.
Good to know there are some good folks left out there.
I've got the motor plates set up (Uh I think) where I want them, and started fitting up the headers. Damn, I'll tell ya what, you could file your fingernails on the finish. that swaintech coating is THICK!
More pics this evening.
Ive got the drysump mount all squared away, now it's on to the accesory drive. As soon as my fittings/hose gets here I can fire it up. I'll post more pics tomorrow.
Hmmm it appears I 'm going to a radial compressor on the passenger side, and a little small-frame alternator. It also appears that the res for the PS might be the front K member. it depends on what pump I end up getting to fit. My only concern at this point is gettting the proper length Htd drive belt and new lower pulley. The drysump pump ended up high on the drivers cyl head. It's the only place it would fit without going reverse rotation
Well I had to abondon the high mount, the fittings hit the headers. Now I mounted it under the car, by the oil filter. I'm putting a pillow block on the factory accessory mounts and using 2 universal joints and a driveshaft to route the power to the pump. I believe that the needlebearing steering ujoints would work. If not, I used to use these high speed ujoints for the slotterhead attatchment on the screwmachines. I know they will take the abuse. but not cheap.
I'll tell ya, this drysump has been quite a clusterfark. Now with everything in place (at least mocked up) the only "custom" part that was needed was the drive. For people with "normal" motor setups I think you could get away with it by building a new Drivers side header.
here is the tank I bought http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWN%3AIT
5 Gallons!!!! Looks like it will stick out of the rear compartment a little.
I also got almost all the lines I need. Just a handful O' jegs parts left.
School starts next week. I need to slow the earth's rotation for a bit so can get some work done.
Or maybe clone myself like that Dude "Ping" on that commercial.
