Default IRS question.

When i pull my rear end to swap gears will the car still be mobile? (able to be pushed around?) I'm new to irs.

it depends on how deep you go.

if you take just the halfshafts and such out, maybe.

you see, the halfshafts are a locating link, without them, the rear might sag quite a bit.

what would work are some dollys that the tires could rest on.

Nope. It's worse than that. The strut rods and tie rods anchor to the diff. The wheels will loose all camber control and steer aimlessly.

Can't move it on the wheels when the rear is out of the car. You can try to move it with supports under the frame....be careful.

You'll also need to support the tranny if you try and put it on a dolly or something.

Every one has given you good gouge if you remove the diff and batwing your car is not a rolling chassis!!!

The rear diff as mentioned is part of the suspension, and it also acts as the rear attachment points for the drivetrain.

You need to support the trans if you pull the batwing.

I certainly did. That makes it much worse than I was thinking. It won't even sit on the rear wheels, let alone roll on them.
