Default Help!! 90 gauge cluster flaky

First my apologizes if this problem has been posted before. I did a search and couldnt find anything similar. Here's my problem I have a 1990 convertible with a cluster that intermittently goes dim and flickers.
During the daytime the backlight on the LCD will not come on, it still shows all the information but no backlight. With the headlights on the LCD and the rest of the cluster goes dim and back to normal
(they don't go out completly) FYI I did replace the headlight switch because the dimmer was not working.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks,

Default Intermittent Cluster backlight

I had a similar problem with my 90 cluster. The backlight would go out intermittently and SYS would display periodically. The Driver Info Center was also intermittent. I could not reset the change oil light and most of the buttons quit working. Sometimes I could make it respond if I slapped the dash. I put up with it for a while. One weekend I decided to take the DIC apart and it turned out to be the plug in the back of the info center. It had almost fallen completely out. I plugged it back in firmly and everything works fine now.

It sounds a little like the problem you mention....

Good Luck
