Default Fuel pressure gauge question

I'm thinking about mounting a fuel gauge onto the fuel rail of my '86. There was a thread about this recently, but some problem was mentioned about fuel leaking into the gauge (Accel in that case). Are there any better gauges available that I can leave permanently mounted? It seems pretty convenient to do this rather than using a temporary gauge. Heat may be a factor in deciding which one to use. Any thoughts on this?

You should consider an electric fuel pressure gage.

The mechanical fuel gages that screw on the fuel rail that I've seen are for temporary use.

The best bang for the dollar is a Stewart Warner
114220. It has a white face with black letters. I think it also comes in a black face with red letters.

Very simple to install. The sender only has 1 wire that goes straight to the gage. You will need AN to NPT fittings to adapt the sender to the fuel rail. The gage requires 12 volts and a ground wire and a wire from the dimmer circuit so you can dim the gage backlighting.

http://www.summitracing.com sells the unit for $80.00
They also sell the Autometer two gage pod that bolts on to the windshield side pillar.

Hijacking the thread a little , what is the thread type on the Schrader valve?
Having hard time in the colonies locating a fitting to adapt gauge for tuning.
Thanks

Is the adapter needed a 4AN male (for the rail) to 1/8NPT female (for the gauge)?

The fitting on the fuel rail is a 4AN male.

Don't forget to remove the schrader valve if you install a permanent fuel pressure gage.

On my Autometer and Stewart Warner Senders, both manufacturers use 1/8 NPT male on the end.

On one of my setups I used a 4AN to 4AN 90 degree swivel Female fittings. Then a straight short piece 4AN Male to 1/8NPT Female which connects to the Sender.

Before you purchase any fittings, you need, to
visually test fit the sender to see if you have enough clearance. The Stewart Warner Sender is pretty big in diameter.
