Transmission is finished and back in the Corvette!
We finished the transmission for my 84 on Friday and all went well. My friend who actually rebuilt the transmission asked if I wanted the car to shift the way a Corvette should shift so I told him sure.
I have the 700R4 4 speed automatic and when I place the shifter in drive and hit the gas the transmission shifts so hard it actually snaps my neck. I guess this is what I've been reading about the last 2 1/2 years when you fellows rebuild your transmissions. I don't know if this is good or bad, I just have to get use to it. It's certainly different from what I previously had!
Thanks to all! I just let my friend from Tennessee drive the car about five minutes ago and he drove the car like I never drove the car in over two years. He placed the shifter into L1, powered braked the car until smoke filled the cabin, let his foot off the brake, shifted into L2, the tires chirped and then he shifted into L3. My little 84!
Needless to say, I was nervous. He then told me all he does in Tennessee is build motors and races at Bristol.
The transmission is fine, the only other thing that can go south is the motor!
Just make sure the TV cable is adjusted properly.
Personally I'd want to beat someone over the head if they hopped in my car and beat it like that after I paid $$ for a new tranny. What an arsehole. Sorry, that stuff sets me off.
Had too many "buddies" break my rides over the years and shrug it off like no big deal.
Congrates on the new tranny. It should hold up well. I rebuilt my tranny with a bunch of goodies, and the other day I hammered it in 1st and when it shifted into second, my sunglasses that were hanging on the passenger visor, flew all the way into the cargo area. yeeehaaa. Enjoy it..... and hold your coffee in the mornings. lol
