Hey guys.. I have a 95 lt1 6 speed with about 72,000 miles. I been noticing a tick when i get the rpms up nothing too extreme, so i poped the hood and i noticed that the passenger side was louder than the drivers side, when it was idling. Can they be ajusted? or maybe it can be an exaust leak?..It is the original exaust...thanx guys
My 92 bone stock LT1 started ticking and making valvetrain chatter at the 10,000 mile mark or so. It stayed like that for another 65,000 miles and it only got worse when I installed heads, cam, headers and roller rockers.
I have had many people look at it and adjust the rockers. Still ticks.
My understanding is all LT1's, especially the early ones, tick. I have done seaches on the Camaro forums and have read similar complaints. Some people say they don't or shouldn't tick. A lot of people say the do.
Also, one more thing. There is a GM bulletin that recommends securing the fuel line on the passenger side with a braket to stop noise coming from the passenger side. Or something along those lines. I can't really remember. It was done years ago.
Even after the recommended repair, I still had a tick.
Do a search on all GM bulletins for the LT1. You might find it and solve your problem.

Mine has 45k miles, stock, and ticks a little. I hear it when going though a drive-thru or idling next to another car, etc.
Get a cheap stethoscope or what is given out on airline flights to listen to music. Use it to see if it is comming from your lifters or a clicking fuel injector.
My '94 with a meticulously rebuilt top end (cam, heads, rockers etc.) still ticks. I've been through the valve adjustment thing several times and haven't found a way to quiet it all down - I've just gotten accustomed to hearing it and started enjoying the mechanical sound / aspect of the beast.
GREAT FORUM.... glad I found it... I have a 95 Lt1 6sp also... 61k on her. She just started ticking yesterday when I started her up. I almost cried.. . Only had car since April and put 1800 miles on her. I don't like this noise at all. Its not loud but I know its there... Some say common some say not... I just want it gone... Found this forum in search of answers... Guess its back to the dealership with a debit card.
