what would a PT-52 turbo be equal too?
Anyone have any idea what would be a similar set up using standard turbos, like say TO4B's etc?
I was thinking it would be something similar to a 62-1 compressor with a T3 turbine?
I would like to use these turbos, but I need a mock up first before I blow money on something that wont fit. I currently have a mock up 60's compressor housing attached to a T4 turbine housing. it looks to be like 2" bigger in diameter then my TO4B's are on the compressor side.
anyone here have any ideas?
here is the PT-52

I actually called precision, and they were no help at all.
the emails were even worse.
meaney used 2 PT51s I believe on his turbo c4 project.
the 52s would be overkill for twins. 2 51s will pretty easily support 1200 HP. but it's way too small for a single. I would consider a PT70 - 72 for that.
I currently have the www.twinturbovette.net setup.
T4/t3's.
I also have a pair of TO4B's.
and one mock up 60-1housing with a T4 turbine.
I have some fitment issues with the T4/T3's (asuming it is my heads and the turbos hitting teh hood supports) and I am considering having the manifolds rebuilt by inovative turbo to lower them a bit and use 321 stainless so I wont have to worry so much about cracking.
I also planned on going with an aftermarket hood, and cutting the frame support to clear the turbos. if I rebuild so these headers I may just go with a PT-52's as they are a proven combo.
I talked to monty a bit about his set up a long time ago, so things are a bit foggy in my mind. but he said he decided to go with the pt-52's, and I thought he said meany chnaged over to them as well. I know biscanne is still on the PT-51's
anyhow, my new concern in all this is how restrictive a T3 turbine (exhaust) housing is, and will it choke the power?
I know you know your buick engines real well Rkreigh. do you know anything about those pt-52 turbine housings? are they modded at all? the picture of monty's turbos, it looks thike the turbine inlet has been machines to a bigger opening.
I called precision, and I dont know what happened. he could not tell me what I wanted to know about those turbine housings.
when I emailed them about the turbine specs they replied with they dont sell those meany headers for corvettes. which left me feeling empty inside because I did not ask this and i gave up tech there.
I got the TO4B's from a buddy at turbonetics. I will get on him when I see him about those. I bought them because they were cheap and brand new.
The T4/T3's that came with the kit..... the owner did not know the specs so I dont. but I do know he dynoed ~580 rwhp, on a basically stock L-98. tpi and all. just forged pistons. I was mainly interested on his exhaust work when I bought the kit.
my concern is building something that makes X horsepower then wanting more. like when I built my L-98 and was bored in 2 weeks after.
I am trying to understand how a T3 exhaust housing, like the ones on the PT-52 can breath enough air to make 1200 HP. obvisouly it works. I just dont see how.
and then I need to figure out how to fit in a larger compressor housing under the vettes hood. currently my T4 housings hit the hood support. the mock up 60-1 is just a mock up, no impeller. it was so I could see how much larger physically it was then the T4's.
So if the PT-52 is physically the same size as a 60-1 housing, I am set and I can begin to figure out how to jam all this under the hood.

one more thing. downpipe size.
if the exit hole on the pt-52 is the same as the inducer, 2.7" I believe. would I make say 1000 hp with 2.75" downpipes opposed to using a 3"?
Downpipe size is a problem. I dont have much room in there. 2.75 inch would be a tight squeeze.
