Well I finally did it, I bought a green 91 coupe. My wife has not spiken to me in the two days since I came home with this surprise. I know nothing about corvettes other than I am sorry I did not buy one years ago. I have a few questions:
The car has an H+S air filter which is a big square, I want to do some small stuff to increase the performance and I thought the air cleaner may be an opportunity?
I was also thinking about looking into a chip to help increase power?
Lastly, I was considering a different exhaust, the one on it I believe to be stock. I see Corsa out there and what I read in the forum was that it was a great all around system. Any input would be appreciated.
The last Item on the list is the radio does not work. This kind of surprised me. I have owned cars older and the radio was not an issue. Where is a reputable place to get one?
Thanks everybody, go easy on me, this is my first post.
I would go easy... but before you buy, you need to be aware of WHAT you are buying...
The 1991 Corvette has the the L98 (base, turbocharged in the Callaway B2K cars) or LT5 (part of ZR1 package) for it's engine options. The LT1 didn't appear until 1992.
Then start to consider some questions. At this time, you really don't know enough to start asking... as such, it would create a lot of typing that has already been done.
Congrats on your purchase! I rather like the Polo Green.
First of all, welcome . Second, if your car is a 91, then its a L98 not an LT-1. As far as the radio goes, a lot of guys (including myself) have used Doctor Don to make repairs. He's in Texas, but has a good turn around time( 1 week) and will run about $150. That's barring any major problems with the radio. Check your fuses etc to be sure that isn't the problem.
As far as your wife goes, that's your problem to work out.
First of all, take your wife out to a super-glamorous dinner to remind her of how much you love her. Then maybe some dancing. She is worth more than any car. She will learn to love the Vette. Second, listen to Bogus. Get to know your car before you do any mods. A stock Corvette will draw more attention and out-run most other cars. Then remember air-in + air-out=HP.
Welcome and take your time with your mods. I enjoyed my 92 for 10 years bone stock before I started mods.
Save your money for really goods mods like heads, cam, long tube headers, catback exhaust and gears. Forget all the cheap mods...your just wasting your time.
Also, lurk in a lot of posts and do a lot of seaches and reading until your head aches. It's amazing how much you can learn about your car on this forum if you just do the research. Then start your mods and tell us how it goes.
I am amazed by the quick response. Bogus your note was excellent, I have printed all the links and will read them over this evening. I would like to give the radio guy a try, does he have a web site?
Thanks again for all your assistance, I think I will simply enjoy the car and take my wife out for an evening spin and an expensive dinner.

Glad I could help!!!
Hope the Mrs enjoys dinner and the ride!!!
Don't be surprised if she never "gets" it. Many don't, but a lot do.
Welcome to the Forum and congrats on your new '91 Vette.
You should pick up a copy of the "Corvette Black Book" (Amazon.com); it has info on each year of Corvette and is good background reading.
If you intend on turning wrenches on your Vette the GM Shop Manual by HELM is indeed the best "tool" in your tool chest.
There is a list of L98 mods and performance results on my site. These are of course not difinitive but good examples of what you can expect from certain types of mods.

That depends. I have 3 ex-wives and wouldn't trade the Vette for any of them back..... But hey, that's just me!
