Default Tonights project: Seat swapping

Swapped the driver and passenger seats to even out the wear of the bolsters tonight. Wasn't as simple as I thought. Have to drill out a few rivets and move a couple pieces to the other seat frames. Was easy and straight foreward though.
Iv'e been thinking of doing this for a while and just decided to do it now, glad I did.

Hello. COuld you describe a little how you did that? I tried it before but it seems that the seats will not fit unless they are on the rigth side.

Pulled the seat bottom cushions, unbolted the 4 bolts holding the seat bottom bracket and seat back to the motor frame, transfer the components, re-assemble. There are only 4 bolts per side, and 3 rivets to drill out on the passenger side, which I replaced with small bolts&nuts. The only difference now is the seat back adjuster is next to the transmission tunnel and the seat pattern is reversed. The seat bottom bracket uses different holes side to side, but they are interchangable, the holes are labeled D and P on both.

I swapped the seats in my '96....I didn't drill out any rivets...it was a simple unbolt/rebolt.

You have a '96 so the seats are a little different so this may be a stupid question..... But, why didn't you just leave the frames on the side they came on and swap the foam/covers. I know on the earlier C4s the foams would interchange between the two frames. It litterally took me about 15 min. to swap them from side to side. Can you not do this with the '96 seats?

The foam pattern has a different mold with the later sport seats. These seats have 2 switch or junction solenoids on the pass side and they control the pump (I think) for both seats. There is a single different box on the driver side. The wiring harness makes it easier to leave these in their original places, so if the frames are swapped, the boxes were switched over. I was hoping they would be identical side to side, but no luck.
