I am getting ready to install my LTs.
I have: EM coated Long tubes
EM coated extensions
Dynatech Powercat Metal matrix cats
Percy's deadsoft aluminum header gaskets
ARP header bolts
02 sim for the rear
I plan on removing the resonator welding in an Xpipe and using the stock pipes and mufflers.
I am looking for the best cost to performance benefit.
Is there a performance downside to using the stock pipes and mufflers?
From what I have read on the forum, the stock system flows very well-including the stock mufflers. The restrictive parts are the catz and the stock manifolds. Most people change mufflers for their preference in sound. That said, the aftermarket systems are built for flow and for longevity, hence the stainless steel and such. I myself am planning to do the same as you, except I'm going to leave my resonator on. I don't want to be too loud. I can't wait till my EM long tubes get in!!!

Looks like a great combination.
I'm running EM LT's, Dynatech Powercats, Percy's gaskets, and a Flowmaster Force II cat-back. I'll be anxious to read how your setup sounds with the stock mufflers.

I have an A4 so the CATs are getting move farther back than stock. I don't think I can keep the resonator.

Looks like you have a great running car. Who did your heads and what cam/valve train mods have you installed?

For a while, at my current level of engine mods, I was running a complete stock LT4 system, sans cats and with long tubes. It wasn't real loud but was noticeably louder than stock and it sounded great. The PE system happened along and I couldn't resist as I had always been intrigued by them. I still have that LT4 system though and have no plans to get rid of it. I think you're going to love it and I would really like to hear the set-up w/o the resonator and with an X pipe in it's place. Go for it and try to post a sound clip for us one of these days.

The times/hp #'s in my sig were with CNC Cylinder Heads and their 212/224 521/536 custom grind camshaft. Recently I upgraded to another CNC custom grind 224/230 605/622 with bee hive springs. Hopefully, work will slow down soon, so I can get to the dyno and finish my WOT tuning. Then on to the track, for (fingers crossed) a really low 12 sec run. Maybe even 11.999999999.
Was reading this thread and would like to know just what brand EM stands for, assuming it is a brand? Also, are they equal length prim aries, and what size? One more question. Are TPiS long tubes equal length? I have always run Hooker Super Comps, but their coating is not up to par, especially compared to the TPiS ones. I guess that's why they are $200 cheaper, but I would rather pay more to get a better product. TIA.
Do they look as good as TPiS longtubes? More importantly, are they equal length? In my opinion, any headers that aren't "tuned" are a waste of money. Lastly, can a LT1 true dual setup be used in place of the Y pipe to cat to y pipe configuration on my '89 L98? TIA.
