I have a 1996 Coupe. The power door locks will lock with the switch on the inside of the door, but won't unlock with the switch. The fuse in the fuse panel is good. What's wrong??
I just cured the reverse problem with the electric locks on my '88.
After some investigation (I measured voltages and jumpered power to the appropriate contacts in the switch base) with a DMM and jumper wire on the driver's side switch, I ordered new lock switches from Contemporary Corvette. When I pried the old DS door switch from it's base the problem was obvious, two of the switch pins were heavily corroded.
I cleaned the mating contact holes within the switch base, coated the new switch pins with dialectric grease, installed the new switch in the driver side and voila, both door switches now work.
You might try pulling the switches to see if either has corroded contacts.
Thanks for the reply!!! Sounds logical.
How do you get the switches out?? Just pry them out with a screwdriver, or does the door panel need to be removed??
Thanks,
Gary
