Hi, I just got my starter tested and the rod pushed out but did not spin. Obviously they told me it was bad. However, Does that sound at all like it could be the solenoid. And if it is, is there a repair kit I may purchase to fix the problem. 1992 LT1 Corvette.

Thanks for all help.
If the "rod" you are talking about is the bendix it seems like your solenoid is working. The solonoid may still be bad. However, if the starter tested bad I would bet that its bad.
Sometimes hitting a starter with a hammer when there is 12V on the terminal will free stuck brushes and get it working again, but I'd replace it while its out!
The Nippondenso starter solenoid has a plunger/rod with a copper disk on the end of it.
When the solenoid is activated, the copper disk makes contact with a copper lug. The copper lug is hooked to the battery terminal. If the copper disk or lug is pitted, 12 volts does not get transfered to the starter motor.
