HI, have a problem on an '86. Im living in vegas so its pretty hot. Ive noticed that in hot conditions sometimes my car starts missing like its running out of gas and becomes impossible to drive.
The samething happened at altittude the other day although it was cold, this shouldnt have happened at this level.
Bit stuck as to what could be the prob, O2 sensors?
any surggestions?
Had a similar problem on a TBI car. Same symptoms, after a drive, turn off and blah, no go. It turns out the sock on the fuel pump was just plain NASTY. Replaced that and the fuel filter, what a difference. Check them out.
Need to know a little more, this sounds like a MAF issue, the car may be going into 'limp home' mode when it gets warm and then it runs really bad. Usually that will trigger an SES light, while O2 sensors rarely do.
O2 sensor failure would show up more as a drop in mpg, not in how it runs so much.
If it's throwing a code your SES light will be comming on, and you should definetly check the codes if that's the case. with
Vader, the 02 sensor will generally affect mileage-but I haven't experienced it making the car run bad-yet! If you haven't changed your fuel filter I'd do it just as a maintenance item, might help, and like what was said about the fuel pump sock is a possibility-so are clogged cats.
