Yes, I did. You'll have to either buy a signal converter for the Speed signal into the ECM (it goes from the VSS to the dash, is halved and then to the ECM for TCC lockup) or you can simply double all the values for TCC lockup in the ECM like I did. otherwise, get a wiring diagram and splice into the harness for your sensors and guages and fab your own mounting plate. It's pretty straighforward really, but there are some good sites out there that can go into more detail than I have here - I just don't remember them off the top of my head.
I've done it too (and I have an '85). It's not that hard but does require some fabrication skills and the wiring diagrams. And the gauges might cost more than you think after you start adding things up...
I'm also running an aftermarket ECM (Accel DFI Gen VII), and a Richmond 6 speed.
Nice setup danno85! I must admit that I like it!!!! Looks very clean and the steering wheel looks awesome! Some of the things you guys do on here is pretty amazing.......
I bought a Camaro cluster about a year ago and tried to use it. The 90-92 Camaro cluster is the correct shape and nicley sized- and it has an electronic speedo too. I could never get it to work right though. I bought the cluster used so maybe it had some problems. The fuel gauge worked, all the idiot lights, but the tach was crazy- not just wrong but crazy. The donor car was supposedly a V8, but I got it from ebay so who knows. I never tried the speedo- it never left the garage.
Too bad nobody manufactures them as a completed unit…I would be in line to buy one.
It would be over a $1000.00... think about it.
It would cost you about $800+ just to DIY. This stuff ain't cheap. But it is much more reliable, easier to read and easier to self service if a gauge did fail.
Interesting, George... we are on the same page, different place.
I originally sent it to Bryan to host on his "everything about the digital cluster" page. Once I set up my own CF webpage I put it there too...
A bolt-in would be tough; a lot of custom work and most people aren't willing to cut up theire cars. FWIW I spent about $450 on VDO gauges / senders from Summit.
