Need new cats?
hey guys i have a 95 lt1 6speed, 72000. i Think i need new cats, need to know some symptoms and if so where and what kind i should get. i noticed the other day that i have a slight leak after the cat, just wondering how much.........thanx guys

leaks are not a problem... more then likely, that would be a loose exhaust fitting.
symptoms...
** sluggishness when you drive
** rotten egg smells
** rich fuel smell
Take a rubber mallet and tap the cats, if you hear things rattling, that's bad.
If you have to replace, check Random Technologies or Car Sound (part of Magnaflow).

AND DO NOT TAP THEM HOT. They will shatter like glass. Wait til they cool off and gently tap them. Been there done that....

if your cats are partially clogged, you will notice a real sluggishness during heavy acceleration, as the cats cannot expel the exhaust at or near the rate which the cylindars are expelling through exhaust valves. You would notice a real bogging down during WOT....
