Default Battery cable end replacement

My top of the line Delco battery leaked out of the positive terminal and I may have to throw out the end of the cable. Has anyone found a good replacement without replacing the whole cable?

Anything other than a new cable will make your cable end unreliable. Corrosion will eventually work it's way in. I would only consider a cheap end as a way home or until payday.

Oh yeah, and they always fail with the girlfriend or wife in the car

I concur. Never had any luck with cable lug replacements. Replace the whole cable.

I used to work on 18 wheelers and heavy equipment, and all the batteries we ran had studs on top that you bolted down the cables to. We always built our own cables and that meant crimping on terminals. We had copper terminals that basically looked like really big, copper versions of the ring terminals you crimp on like a 16 ga wire. What we always did was cut the wire, strip off the insulation about 1/2", and crimp on the new terminal. I would then either spray it with battery terminal protector spray, which should be available at the parts store, or cover them with bearing grease. Except for very rare occasions, we never had a problem with corrosion, and they're much easier to see and clean if there ever is corrosion. The factory type look a lot better IMO, but that huge plastic cover can get chock full of corrosion before you even notice it, and then you're buying a new cable again.
