Default Spark Plug Wires, Headers, Wire Looms. HELP!

I need help on this one.

My car is a 94 LT-1 with Hooker Headers, Super Competition Long Tubes
The previous owner took the engine out to rework it. The engine lost the original wire looms in the process, probably due to the headers blocking the holes. The headers are not ceramic coated. I hope to do so soon if anyone has had a good experience with Jet Hot coat let me know.

The car has MSD wires now and the heat from the headers has cooked the boots on #5 and #6. The wires are currently arching into the headers on those cylinders so I need to renedy this ASAP.

I have a new set of MSD cut to fit wires in the garage right now. All the boats are 90 degree boots. I also have the mesh fabric "Protect-O boot" collars that slip over to boots on the way from Summit.

Before I spend any time replacing these wires which is a PITA, I wanted opinions on what to do.

1. Should I use these wires instead?

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...es&forum_id=48

2. Go with shorter "header spark plugs" for additional clearance?

3. What should I do about routing the wires? I can't seem to find a good alternative to the factory wire looms.

4,. Go ahead and coat the headers?

I would love to see some pictures of someones successful project on this situation. I would like to fix this problem and not have to continually throw money at it.

MSD are great wires for resisitng heat, but without ceramic coating it might not matter.

Get those headers coated and you shouldn't have any more problems. Jet Hot is one of the grandfathers for cermaic coating, they're going to be doing my headers.

I have ceramic coated headers on the IROC and the MSD SC wires have survived for over 7yrs with only 1/8-1/4" clearance on a copla boots.

A quick fix would be to get some heat wrap, and wrap the headers a little, just where the spark plug boots are...

But I agree- ceremic coating is best...

First Jet-Hot's Sterling Ceramic Coating is simply the best. I have a set of Hooker shorties with Jet-Hot's Sterling on them and after 4 years they look great.

Second, I just improved on the factory design of the looms. They are pretty easy to fabricate. My MSDs are over 4 years old and they still look new and have no burn spots thanks to good wire routing and good looms.

I like the Made for you looms.. that with a custom set of wires and optispark ends from taylor and you can make your wires run above the valve cover and away from most of the heat.

I'm not sure how they will work on LT1 vette valve covers but they work awesome on traditional sbc Chevy and Fbody valve covers.

You can buy the kit from thunderracing.

Default Burned Plug Boots

I Have burned at least 10 MSD wire plug boots on my headers this year. I am now using the Jacobs electronics Ceramic plug wire sets that actually have ceramic plug boots. This is the only fix that has worked for me. In addition I used DEI fiberglass sleeves on the plug wires to protect the wire itself. I have a Polo Green 92 auto with a procharger and built motor. The headers are TPIS 1 3/4 long tube.
