Default Acceptable Intake Temp

What is an acceptable Air Intake Temperature after the intercooler on my P1SC. I'm seeing about 143° at the IAT sensor between the Intake manifold after the intercooler. My new injectors should be in tommorow and I want to know if there is anything else that warrants my attention before I jump back into tuning.

Welcome to summer with your heat capacitor.. The intercoolers/aftercoolers have a hard time keepign up in the summer time because temps off the road are over 110 degrees easy.

Wait until it cools off.. it will really scream.

What's the best way to give the i/c a little help? Alky/water injection? A little refridgerant shot? or even, dare I say it, a small 100 shot of nitrous?

What intercooler are you running? A small shot of meth/water will get the job done. The only down side is that it will eventually run out. You can also spray nitrous in your intercooler, NX has a kit made specially for that. Very cheap and works well.

I have my meth on a switch and I run about 70/30 mix with meth and water. Since my system is non intercooled I have seen temps up to 180+ and as soon as I spray, I can see temps go as low as in the 80s. Eventually, it will creep up again if you boost it hard.

My only gripe about meth is that my tank is way too small.

If temps are really your concern you can do both nitrous and meth...that's what I have going.

that is acually pretty good after the intercooler........if it's with heat soak, after running boosted.........I see 135 degrees unboosted, just whats coming past the rad.........the temps one foot above the asphalt are 130 to 140 this time of year and as you know were bottom feeders...........hood cowl induction helps some........I would be happy with those temps.

Nobody has asked the obvious question. When you are seeing 143°F IAT, at what boost is this recorded? If this is at 3 psi, imagine what the IAT will be at 10 psi. Now if this reading is at 10 psi, than I am envious.

The rule of thumb that I have learned is that anything under 160° is great, between 160 - 180°F is marginal, and above that is reason for concern. I was reading some technical papers today, and in that detail, they discuss for every 25°F that the IAT rises (above 100°F), your octane requirement goes up by one point (or conversely timing must be pulled).

BTW, my car with the Spearco pulls regularly to 225°F+, and I am very concerned!
