After washing my 94 convertible I go to get some fast food. Just after sunset and the interior lights turn on as usual when I open the door, but they don't go off after shutting door and starting the engine. No "Door ajar" light either. Lights stay on for entire 20 or 25 minute trip and remain on after killing engine and headlights. They finally turn off after 15 minutes, but now the PKE is not working. I can't even disable it by holding the transmitter button for the usual 2 seconds or so. Bought a new battery for transmitter-no help.
Sliding the key into the ignition finally resets the PKE and it works normally except the lights start the 15 minute cycle thing when the door is opened or the PKE unlocks the door and the lights come on like that. And the only way to get the PKE working again is to put the key into the ignition again. Service manual doesn't cover this one.

NolaVette94,
It might be working fine now, but chances are the key lock had nothing to do with it, the switch just dried out and started making contact again.
The door switches are a problem which effects everything, even the alarm system.
Replace both of them now before they die permanently and prevent your alarm from working (can be done through the door switch hole without taking the door apart -- see the manual).
Our 94 LT1 coupe (purchased used 2 years ago) had alarm/delay timers/pke not working. Turned out that both door switches were completely dead (not completing the circuit when the door was opened). Had all the same symptoms as you. After purchasing 3-4 sets from local dealer and Eckler's (poorly constructed or sticky -- GM's vendor for the switches sucks), now everything works fine.
Also, less likely your problem, but we had to also clean the 'ball bearing' in the remote, which 'wakes' the remote's transmitter. Otherwise the PKE appeared to not work, but it was because the remote wasn't 'transmitting'.
