Default Pulling Cam Need Some Help

Pulling the cam on my 86, having trouble getting it past the cross member. Any tricks to this?
I will be pulling the trans soon, so I would think with the trans out it will raise the front of the engine enough to pull the cam.
I have never heard of the cross member being a problem getting the cam out. Thanks

Tried removing the engne mount bolts and jacking the engine?
Removng the trans will let the engine sit level. If you remove the drive shaft and take the trans mount out and support the trans, you can slowly lower the trans and it will tilt the engine.

Loosen the bolts on the motor mounts

Put a block of wood on your jack and place it under the motor and jack up the motor about an inch and the cam will clear the cross member

I was hoping on not having to mess with the motor mounts, but it looks like thats what I need to do.
Or wait until I lower the back end of the trans, its a shame it only lacks about a 1/2 inch or less.
You would think they would have designed that cross member a hair different.

Thanks for the help!

Not sure about L98's but removing the motor mount bolts and jacking up the engine a tad is standard procedure on LT1/4 cars.
