I am replacing the ignition on my 89. What do you recommend?

Neither, the Delco part is quite adequate for an L98.

Unless you are highly modified, OEM is quite adequate.

I am guessing that the cheap @$$ advanced autopart brand? would not be the best choice?

Whatever they have is probably the Delco part, take it out of the box and check. Its not that expensive.

Unless you are running a forced induction setup, the stock ignition should be adequate for most needs. I would recommend some upgraded wires however.

Use Delco. I installed all MSD cap, rotor, coil, wires and AC plugs. 0 power difference, wasted $$
I wouldn't use the autozone stuff, though unless you really had to.

Honestly I would trust Delco to outlast about any aftermarket stuff.
although I did install an autozone cts sensor today-shhh.

I've run the HyperTech setup in my IROC for over 8yrs and had to replace one cap because pins pulled out.
I would bet the AC Delco in the Vette was original; I've had the HyperTech setup in it now for over 5yrs with no troubles.
Since my L98 now pulls well to the 5,800rpm shift point I run the HyperTech with TPIS wires (fit stock looms) and cut back AC Delco plugs gapped to .047".
