Default Datamaster Help Please

I think I am the Typhoid Mary of scan programs. I have gone thru WinALDL,Freescan, both Moates versions and finally got TunerPro RT to run but couldn't figure out what the 72 pages of numbers ment.
Bought Datamaster/with cable,USB version, from AKM Cables and still can't get the dang thing to work. I have an 85 with a 7165 ECM. Running ARAP bin with vey few changes. Datamaster version is 32. Install version Beta. When I do the connection the laptop, select a Com port and run a test I get Error 1. That tells me the PC is seeing the USB adapter but the adapter is not talking to the ECM. During an earlier attempt I got a message which read"No PCM Sync", whatever that means. Had the key on and on several tries had the car running. Looked at the install and it is recognized as applicable to the 86-89 MAF Y car with AT.
Can any of you smart guys give me a clue.

"No PCM Sync" means it wasn't able to establish a link to the ECM.

What problems did you have with Craig Moates' software? You tried ECM 851 of his right? What cable were you using?
Do you have a 10k ohm resistor across pins A & B of the ALDL? Gotta have that one.

I tried both 851 and 852. I have used three cables. One home made, one from Custom efis and one from Moates. The first two had a 10k resistor. I assume Moates did also since it did work with TunerPro RT.
I guessed that was the meaning of No PCM sync. Any clue as to why? I really want to use Datamaster.

Vette is an 85 BUT with an 89 ECM and chip. Have four cables, one homemade and three store bought. I can get the TunerProRT to log but would rather use Datamaster.

Same problem...no joy yet. I'll be keeping a close eye on this one, as I don't want to use up the free scans I have with Datamaster......

Jerrys 89- you cant flash a TPI style ECM through the ALDL port- so no, none of those programs tune just datalog. Most *can* make changes to a bin file, but require chips and a chip burner to do so.

Muffin- who did the 165 swap? Are you sure the data wire to the ALDL is correct? Have you tried looking up the ALDL wire on a schematic and hooking up your laptop to your ECM directly?

jerry, got it from AKM Cables.

Nova, I did the swap with a lot of PM help from Bluevette85. All the TunerPro RT scans I have done were done after the swap so I think it is wired correctly.

You might try some of the combinations of advanced settings under the options menu like handshake when you try to record data.
That worked for me.

I am haveing problems too, and it usually comes downto port settings in hardware device, ports properties.
I know there are certain settings, and last time I used it I had to change the settings etc.
