Default Got the car back today and ..

After 6 mo., the new 355 is in but a bunch of stuff isn't even tightened down. But the scariest is the new Raptor 700R4 is shifting instantly and really hard, with a bang. It wasn't like that when it last ran, I had the governor adjusted perfectly before. I only drove 5mi. back home.

Could the TV cable not be hooked up right at the tranny? or worse, could the torque converter not be installed correctly?

If the car runs down the road, the convertor was installed correctly. No problem there. Make sure that the inside of the tv cable is hooked into the tv link that comes out of the trans. Then readjust the tv cable.

It sounds like a TV cable thing since the problem is at part throttle.

Pull on the TV cable by hand and make sure its got spring tension feel to it. If its limp feeling, then either the cable broke or they did not hook it up in the trans right.

If that all checks out, readjust it. Running it with an unhooked or broken cable will ruin the trans.

Thanks, sound like the best place to start. I almost got 20mi. on her ..
I had wondered about the weird screw the guys used for the tensioner mounting bracket, looked like a wood screw .. anyway the bracket snapped and the belt went. In a few sec. temp went to 240 and I shut it down, luckily at my driveway.

It's kind of a custom setup after removing smog pump and AC. Anyway, time for some re/engineering there. Anyone have the original mounting brackets for L98. Maybe time to back go to GM engineering.

The new 355 TPI is ****. will be fun to get back on the dyno, may not have a lot HP. but lots of torque.

I guess I just have to resign myself to the fact I have to do this work myself. I had the governor perfectly calibrated, Raptor must have replaced the valve body .. I'll call them later to see. I have yet to check how the cable is connected to trans.

TV cable seems adjusted alright, tight at wot. I had the Governor recalibration spring combinations all down, and now I can't remember, it's a Reagan thing
